WurstMarkt, Part One

This weekend wasn't as eventful as last, but it was fun nonetheless. Friday I had a very busy day with friends, and then we took the train out to Bad Durkheim for the WurstMarkt. It is better known as the largest wine festival in the world. It goes on for two weeks and attracts thousands of people. And they know how to do it as it has been going on for over 400 years. We spent part of the night in the smaller wine tents, but most of it in a large tent with a band. Here are a few looks at that atmosphere...

You order wine by the 1/2 liter with the option to make it a schorle. A schorle is a glass that has some sweet water mixed in to water it down. It is very fun and the wine is delicious. TJ lost last year to the wine, and this year still lost...but it took longer. We went with my good friend Karen, and some other ex-pats that she knows from Heidelberg. These are the ex-pats that we became fast friends with:

This was their first festival and I think it was a success...they loved it! The trip out to this festival is very long by tram, but well worth it. We had so much fun that it took the rest of the weekend to recover. This was our pre-party for the upcoming weekend when we take Steph, one of my oldest friends from grade school. She just made it in this morning and I look forward to showing her the area...and showing you as well!
Auf Wiedersehen!
