Crazy Busy Weekend

TJ and I don't really go out and party as much as we used to in the States as the bar atmosphere is very different and we tend to travel more or go to festivals, but this weekend we went a little nuts. This is one of three weekends we will have alone together and be here in Mannheim until the middle of December so we decided to live it up! It started Thursday night with pre-dinner and drinks with fellow American friends Karen and Meredith at Billy Blues in Heidelberg. A really good band plays there on the first Thursday of each month called, The Wright Stuff. Although they sucked last Thursday so we rounded out the night in another favorite watering hole called The Dubliner.
Saturday night we had a dinner date with our friends Darren and Kristi as it marked her last night out in Mannheim since they are both returning to Iowa with the company. It was really fun! Dinner at Milano was delicious and so were the two bottles of wine! We later found ourselves at The Ivy for drinks...and they were not for the faint-hearted! That bartender did me proud that night and then not so much the next day. Here are the four of us for the last time in Mannheim...

So basically I was still hung over on Saturday night which also the night of Konrad's 30th birthday party. It was then TJ's very lucky night as it won him a designated driver! It was a good time and I was reunited with some German's that I hadn't seen in a while...along with new acquaintances like a Berlin area gym owner. Poor guy got the whole "...Les Mills programs are best fitness programs ever and you are crazy for not having them" speech. It was a good party, but apparently we were very late. I guess the party beginning at 7:00 meant that we were to be there at that time as they were serving dinner. Who knew? Clearly not us. Any way here are TJ, myself, and the Birthday Boy!

The weekend was a hit, but not at all restful. I guess at 31 it takes a lot out of a person to have fun for three days and nights straight! The fun will continue on Friday night as some of us are heading to the Bad Durkheim Wurstmarkt. Its over two weeks long and is better known as the largest wine festival in the world. Other than that we are preparing for our friends to arrive as well as preparing the DVR for the new season of shows. More on all of that later!
Auf Wiedersehen!
